<![CDATA[Algae Bloom Lake Erie Update]]>Tue, 23 Aug 2016 11:50:30 GMThttp://peleeislandtour.com/blog/algae-bloom-lake-erie-updateWell It looks like I was wrong about the algae bloom this year. It seems the drought we experienced this summer was good for Lake Erie. There was no run off from the farm fields or very little. We have not seen the algae yet this year. The result from this has had a great impact on the area surrounding Lake Erie.

It has been a great year for sport fishing. Families could go to the beach and cool off in the lake on those hot summer days. Cities and towns have had no threat to their water supplies. Tourism has not suffered like it has in the past on places like Pelee Island.

We need rain but not the down pours that will wash everything into the lake. That can happen later in the fall or we may be in for a double impact next year.

<![CDATA[Lighthouse Point, Pelee Island]]>Thu, 14 Jul 2016 11:31:35 GMThttp://peleeislandtour.com/blog/lighthouse-point-pelee-islandThe Lighthouse Trail is not safe and anyone using it should be aware of it. There are stones, holes and roots in the path. Poison Ivy is everywhere at the edge of the path and even against the wall of the lighthouse under one of the support beams. The bridge to the beach has holes in it, loose boards and one raised board that you could easily trip on. You will also have to deal with people bringing bikes on the trail even though no bike signs are posted. There is no enforcement or much of anything else but neglect. This used to be a nice place but now I am embarrassed to bring people there. The lighthouse is a mess. I don't think anyone would have raised any money for the Fred Krestel Memorial if they knew they were going to lock it up and throw away the key. Every year thousands of people come to visit the lighthouse. It is a shame what they have to go through to get to it then when they get there it is locked .

<![CDATA[Algae Bloom Lake Erie]]>Tue, 14 Jun 2016 00:02:30 GMThttp://peleeislandtour.com/blog/alge-bloom-lake-erieHi Hope to be on the island soon.... Below is more important... Check it out.
No way there going to stop this
Lake Erie is big business's sewer ....40 experts at how much cost to tell us what we all ready know. How messed up is that? Check out their time line and see what happens. I bet with the current weather this year Lake Erie will be PEA SOUP by the end of July if not sooner.
